Amongst the many bene’s of staying with my folks, it is straight up Montessori in this house. People pay thousands to send their kids to Montessori schools. We pay nothing. Wait, no, we pay free childcare and a free place to stay.

My mom just comes by it naturally. I attribute it in part to her having been a primary school teacher. The other part I think is a parenting style that has fallen by the wayside but is in need of a return. A lot of kids I come across nowadays (and a lot of grownups) suffer along the child king spectrum. And this is totally my professional opinion as a know-it-all.

Thankfully I am only totally responsible for one child. Minus the king. And my mom’s approach clearly worked with me. As I am a downright effing pleasure.

On this day, Maxine was washing shoes. Her shoes of course. It’s exploratory play not child labor.

She totally dug it. They do all kinds of other stuff. Like brushing cats and watering plants.

And while we search for houses to eventually leave this utopia of village child rearing, the Montessori at home books I’ve been eyeing for some time can stay saved for later in my Amazon shopping cart.

For now, I’ve got MoMtessori.

Boom. Told you I’m a god damn pleasure.
