Lady bird turned one whilst we were away for the holidays. Her birthday is well timed given that we live 10 hours from our home. While I am sure plenty of Philadelphia friends would turn out to celebrate our lady, it was nice to have the pomp of a homecoming.

Her party was filled with family and friends. The beauty of Indiana is that practically everyone we know is married with kids. That does a lot for managing expectations of a one-year-old’s birthday party. Plus, Maxine threw down with the other kids. She’s no wallflower. Daycare ensures she has zero respect for anyone’s personal space - especially another kid’s. And after a week of warm ups with her older & bigger cousins, she was in the mix.

Re-capping a one-year-old party is about as exciting as the party itself. She had fun though so I suppose it was a success. Well, and she did in fact turn one so, yeah, I’ll take this first birthday as a momma “W”.
