It’s that most wonderful time of the year … for book nerds on the internet. The Morning News has announced the lineup of books and judges for its ninth annual Tournament of Books (aka ”the Rooster”). Every March, the Tournament of Books pits some of the best fiction books published the previous year against one another in a March Madness-style bracket to determine a winner. It is delightful. Books in contention this year include Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel, Dear Life by Alice Munro, and Arcadia by Lauren Groff. Judges include Kate Bolick, Jack Hitt, Elliott Holt, Tony Horwitz, and Davy Rothbart. May the best book win!

Fresh Air critic Maureen Corrigan on Alice Munro’s masterful short stories.
(Full disclosure: I occasionally write for TMN, but even if I didn’t I would love the Rooster and his cockadoodling.)

I love this. For the Sedaris connection and the March Madness connection.
Once a Hoosier, always a Hoosier.
