This pic is a little bit older but scanning past it made me think of a conversation Job and I had not long ago.
Having a child links you back to your own childhood. I’ve remembered things long forgotten. And longed for things always remembered.
Sometimes I want a yard for Maxine. A yard that would presumably have lightning bugs in it. Living in the city, green space is harder to come by. Job actually offered a half sarcastic “I don’t even think there are lightning bugs anymore”.
Sure enough. A few nites after the sad are-lightning-bugs-dead bantering, I saw them. Lots (well, city “lots”) of them just outside our door. Maxine had already gone to bed but it warmed my heart to know she won’t miss out on all the fun.
